Dosage Guidelines

Start low. Go slow.

Cannabis dosing is highly individual. What works for one person may be too much or too little for another. The goal is to find your optimal dose - the minimum amount that provides the effects you're looking for.

General Principles

  1. Start with a low dose - If you're new to cannabis or trying a new product, begin with just 1-2 drops of tincture or a small piece of edible (2-5mg THC)

  2. Wait before taking more - Effects from oral cannabis take time to manifest:

    • Tinctures (sublingual): 30 minutes to 2 hours
    • Edibles: 1-3 hours, sometimes longer
  3. Space your doses - Wait 4-6 hours between doses to avoid overmedication

  4. Effects last 4-8 hours - Plan accordingly, especially for sleep or daytime use

  5. Keep a journal - Track what you take, when, and how you feel. This helps dial in your optimal dose.

Tincture Dosing

Our olive oil tinctures vary by strain. Cannabis flower infusions may deliver different milligram dosages than concentrates.

Typical starting dose: 4-6 drops under the tongue

For new users: Start with just 1-2 drops

Hold under your tongue for 30-60 seconds before swallowing for faster absorption.

See our tincture products for strain-specific cannabinoid profiles.

Edible Dosing

Our chocolate bars are divided into 10mg THC pieces.

Standard dose: 10mg THC (one piece)

For new or sensitive users: Start with half a piece (5mg) or less

Effects from edibles take longer to feel but last longer than other methods.

See our chocolate bars for strain and cannabinoid details.

CBD vs THC Dosing

Some individuals are particularly sensitive to CBD effects. If you feel overly sedated, reduce your dose.

Lifestyle Matters

Cannabis medicine works best when accompanied by healthy diet and lifestyle choices. It's a tool in your wellness toolkit, not a magic bullet.

Reciprocity

Plant medicine traditions remind us that healing is a relationship. When we receive from the earth, we're invited to give back—through care for the land, mindful consumption, and gratitude for the plants themselves. This sacred reciprocity honors the source of what heals us.

Finding Your Dose

The "optimal dose" is personal. For some conditions, less is more - a phenomenon called biphasic dosing where lower doses may be more effective than higher ones.
